Shalakya Tantra
Shalakya Tantra is the branch of Ayurveda that deals with ailments above the neck. Sreedhareeyam specializes in Shalakya Tantra, and especially Netra Chikitsa (Treatment of Eye Diseases) aided by extensive knowledge that was handed down in the family through the ages and polished with clinical experience. All the doctors here are professionally qualified, but at the same time, enriched with the traditional collection of knowledge scriptures in Nelliakkattu Mana. All the medicines and treatment methods are constantly evaluated through continuous research and clinical study centers, which subsequently perfected the methods in use.

Late Dr. N.P.P Namboothiri
Along with elder brother Sri NP Narayanan Namboothiri, laid the foundation for the Sreedhareeyam Group of Institutions. Under the expert guidance and training of the seniors of the Nelliakkattu mana, he gained expertise in Ayurveda enriched by the clinical experience and knowledge handed down by the ancients of the mana. He went on to acquire professional qualification in Ayurveda after which he was in Government service for around three decades when he made a name for himself as an Ayurvedic ophthalmologist. During his tenure, he was able to treat many eye diseases that other medical methods had failed to treat. After retiring from the government service, Dr.N.P.P. Namboothiri became a phenomenon through his relentless inquisition, research, and establishment of 'Shalakya Tantra'.
He specially chose to specialize in all ailments related to ophthalmology, diagnosed root causes, delved into anatomy, and independently chiseled a curative system. He received numerous awards and recognition from all over the world for his unparalleled contributions to Ayurveda and Ayurvedic ophthalmology in particular.
Nelliakkattu Mana - The Birthplace of Sreedhareeyam
Sreedhareeyam has successfully leveraged three centuries of traditional Ayurvedic wisdom inherited from Nelliakkattu Mana, an illustrious Namboothiri family known for Ayurvedic Netra Chikilsa. The vaidyans (physicians) of the mana were renowned for expertise in Ayurveda in general and especially poison remedies from more than 4 centuries ago. Over generations, the members of the mana began to place more focus on Shalakya Tantra (a branch of Ayurveda that deals with ailments to the organs of the head and neck) and explored the depths of Ayurveda to unearth the treasures in ayurvedic eye care. As modern technological advancements began to take shape with the evolution of allopathic methods, the physicians of the mana explored options to take professional training and also find ways to get introduced to the technology revolution. Thus they excelled in modern diagnostic methods and modern disease descriptions, bringing the best of both worlds together for the benefit of ophthalmology as a science.
